Kunsmusiek

Kunsmusiek (ook genoem Westerse klassieke musiek, ernstige musiek, kanonieke musiek,^[1] of geleerde musiek is musiek wat gevorderde strukturele en teoretiese oorwegings^[2] en 'n skriftelike musikale tradisie impliseer.^[3] Die term "ernstig" word dikwels in verband met musiek gebruik om dit teenoor gewone, alledaagse musiek te stel (d.w.s. populêre en folk musiek, ook bekend as "volksmusiek").^[4] Ná die 20ste eeu, is kunsmusiek verdeel in "ernstige musiek" en "ligte musiek".^[5]
